There is the saying:

"All ways lead to Rome" with guidebooks and the town card of Rome, prepared, we also told this to us, we booked the flight and a hotel by Internet and made to us with an only light hand luggage on the journey.
Who flies to Rome lands about 45 km remote from the centre of Rome at "Rome-Fiumicino" airport. One most cheaply reaches of the aerodrome with the train to the city of (€ 5.60) and gets out at the station "Termini". There we bought day Tikets for ourselves (valid for all public means of transportation of Rome). The underground and bus net of Rome is very big, clear, marked well and cheap.

Is advisable to buy a menu of the day for the tourist line 110 at the bus station Termini to receive a rough summary from Rome and its sights (red busses two-storey, clear). This line happens all with the advantage to sights of Rome that one-and can get aboard again, too from at own discretion at the stops of the respective sight. A map and headphones are included for the explanations (in several languages) during the journey in the price for 18.- €.
After a complete bus tour we decided what we will have a look more intensively at within the next 4 days. It was clear for us fast that 4 days would not be enough to get to know everything interesting. Thought as us Rome is more fascinating had ...

Petersdom

Look of the dome of the cathedral
ROM also as an "eternal town" described has 2.5 m. inhabitants and already 753 became v. Chr. of Romulus founded. The Petersdom, the Vatican City and the old town of Rome were declared the world cultural heritage in 1980. The historical centre spreads almost exclusively on the left bank of the Tiber, the most and greatest historical monuments are here from the antiquity.
Impressions: However, for the eye it is thousands of "aunt Emma stor" like in every large town of Europe for this that one sees no new buildings, modern magnificent buildings or shopping centre strange. Innumerable restaurants and street cafés line every street, expensive, these outrageously are menus multilingually though always, one searches in vain German, for this, however, almost every roman speaks English and always gives with pleasure information. Who does not like a pizza or pasta has a hard time in Rome.

The Petersdom is the largest church of the world
The cathedral offers 60,000 people place. The church was the apostle Peter built on the grave, this was in 550 and 1506
For history:
2000 years ago this one was there, where the Petersdom stands today private circus the emperor then Nero. Nero held the Christians responsible for the gigantic fire in 67 n.Ch. which almost destroyed whole Rome. It had the Christians punished, many were crucified like Christ. The apostle Peter was also nailed onto the cross with the head to below. After a painful death he was buried there. This is the place, where the papal high altar is (on the right in the picture) today, of this altar only the pope may preach.
A place of pilgrimage developed already in the early Christianity in this place that is still before a church decorated the grave. Around 550 n.Ch. the first Peterskirche arose in this place and remained into function for more than 1000 year and was already the centre of the Christendom in the Middle Ages.

1547 became the already 71-year Michelangelo of of pope Paul III. master builder of the Petersdoms appointed since the almost 1000 years old church got dilapidated. He built a model to make sure that the project could be carried out also after his death. He had recognized that the dome had to become the true symbol of the basilica and the emblem of the Christendom. Before the dome was completed, Michelangelo still died.
The Peterdom dome is a magnificent engineer performance Michelangelos: the dome is double walled, one quite still reaches 420 steps between both as a visitor above. A fantastic view over whole Rome is the pay of the narrow stairs advancement which is between the exterior and inner wall of the dome. For the stairs advancement one may join in a queue and include waiting time in his plans approx. 2-3 hour and pay 8.- € for it.

Warning signs point out that older visitors should not venture the advancement because altogether 840 steps finally must be handled ...
TIP: One can run around freely on the roof of the Petersdoms and glance at Rome into all directions and the well-tended papal gardens. An unconditional must the visit of the Sistine chapel in which the papal elections has taken place for centuries is in the Vatican City.
The gigantic, world-famous ceiling fresco painted Michelangelo within only 4 years between 1508 to 1512. Art treasures and paintings of incalculable value have to be gazed in admiration in the "Vatican museums"; unfortunately, the current of the visitors does not come off at any time.

........The  Colosseum

Being in Rome and having not gone to the Colosseum, unthinkable! This ancient making is situated and with the bus or the underground well attainable in the middle of the centre of Rome. One immediately is impressed by the tremendous size of this 2000 years old making, arrived there. Endless tourist queues form around the building. Without a previous appointment one must expect 3-4 hour waiting time. Gladiators being lying around convey an impression of the ancient Rome then to the visitor. Admiration but also total aversion and disgust wake the knowledge about the Colosseum, its story and real purpose in one.

Disgust because of this, because the Colosseum also is described as the cruelest slaughterhouse of the history. The romans "enjoyed" the death of people and also animals for almost 5 centuries which were set onto each other. Ten thousands of animals and people (gladiators) found the death to the pleasure of the romans which was admission for this bloodbath free in a bestial way in the Colosseum for all romans. 5000 gladiators and 3000 animals found alone the death during the inaugural ceremony of this theatre lasting 100 days in 80 to Chr. Only after approx. 450 years the gladiator fights were, stopped this cruel battles of the animals went even further 50 years weiter.Der great need led this amphitheatre at animals to the wiping out of many species of animals in the provinces of the Roman empire.

Historie:
Absolute admiration, however, is for the building and his architects: Within only 8 years this making was set up and offered up to 70,000 visitors place. More than 80 entrances one could reach in. Only within 5 minutes all visitors could leave the theatre, this construction system is used in large stadia certainly today.

There were 2 stories for the properties and also most modern technology below the arena: so there were hydraulic lifts even then with which the animals were brought to the arena. The complete area of the arena could be flooded with water to be able to show naval battles.
